Grilling Me Softly, a podcast created in partnership with MAEKAN, is dedicated to exploring food and beverage culture with creatives, industry experts, and F&B innovators. Each episode features a different guest – each with a unique relationship to and perspective on the food world that transcends the confines of a singular restaurant or bar. Whether it’s a producer, writer, illustrator or designer, every guest on Grilling Me Softly brings something new to the table (pun intended).

In our second episode, we speak with illustrator and artist Jonathan Jay Lee, a Taiwanese-American based in Hong Kong who’s interest in comic books has taken him from a Parsons graduate to a professor at SCAD Hong Kong. He has done commissioned work for Lamborghini, HSBC, and Marvel Comics, and has even tapped into the hospitality industry with his lightbox pieces showcased at Ho Lee Fook.

Listen below to learn more about Jonathan’s work, his creative process, and why comic books and graphic novels are important to Hong Kong’s growing art scene!
